"Choke"
(Berklee Songs 4 Social Change Award Winning Song)
Smoke
In my lungs
Breathe it in and wash it down with dust
Coal
And petrol fumes
I miss the way the flowers bloomed
‘Cause I can’t see the stars above us
Poisoned lakes and burning towers
Back to earth in graves that we dug
Gone from green to gray
It makes me
Choke
I dream
of daughters
who can breathe without machines
and earth will heal
without us
Is it too late for us to change?
‘Cause we can’t see the stars above us
Poisoned lakes and burning towers
back to earth in graves that we dug
Gone from green to gray
It makes me
Choke
Burns my throat
it keeps me shut indoors
it makes it hurt to sing
it makes me
Can we change
Before earth heals
Without us?
